Stretch marks are subcutaneous tissue cracking due to strong skin stretching, rapidly growing, increasing weight during pregnancy or due to long-term application of certain medications (anabolic steroids, oral or spreadable glucocorticosteroids). In most cases stretch marks appear in the breasts, thighs, buttocks or abdominal skin. At first they look like pink longitudinal thinning of the skin, which, over time, become lighter and turn white. Stretch marks are frequent; it is believed that about 70 percent of women and 40 percent of men have them.

The Innovative Dermatology Center for stretch marks treatment and reduction uses MedArt® fractional CO2 laser. It allows performing a fractional photothermolysis, during which stimulation of epidermis renewal and collagen fibre reorganization (remodelling). Due to that reduces the area of stretch marks, they become less visible. The best effect we can expect, if treatment is started early, when stretch marks are still pink.

What to expect?

During the procedure, sometimes felt the effect of burning. At the treated place the skin may become red, swollen, and later exposed surface of the skin begins to peel off finely. Nevertheless, the procedure is well tolerated by patients, after it they can return to their usual daily routine. The number of procedures during the consultation is determined by the physician. The maximum effect is achieved after 4–6 procedures, depending on the width and depth of stretch marks. Laser treatment is repeated every 3–4 weeks.
